Frequently asked questions
The short, honest answers — expanded a little further than the one-liners above.
Is DuitBox free?
Yes. DuitBox is free to use, including Guest Mode, cloud sync with a Google account, and shared budgets.
Do I need to sign up to use DuitBox?
No. Guest Mode works fully offline with no account at all — your data stays on your device. Signing in with Google is optional, and only needed if you want your data backed up and synced across your other devices. You can switch from Guest Mode to a Google account later without losing anything.
Does DuitBox have access to my bank account?
No. DuitBox never connects to your bank account and holds no banking credentials at all. On Android, it reads the notification text your banking and e-wallet apps already post to your phone — the same notification you'd see on your lock screen — and turns that into a tracked transaction. Anything it doesn't recognise lands in Pending for you to review, and nothing is saved without your confirmation unless you've specifically turned on instant auto-entry for that source.
Which banks and e-wallets does DuitBox support?
Maybank (MAE and Maybank2u), CIMB, Public Bank, RHB, Bank Islam, Touch 'n Go eWallet, Boost, Setel, Shopee/ShopeePay, Grab, Lazada, and foodpanda, with more being added regularly. Anything not yet supported still lands in Pending for manual review, or you can add it from an uploaded bank/e-wallet receipt instead.
Is DuitBox available on Google Play?
Not yet — it's on its way. For now, open app.duitbox.app in Chrome on Android and use "Add to Home Screen" to install it like a native app, including the automatic notification tracking. This page will be updated with a Play Store link once it's live.
Can I share a budget with my partner or family?
Yes. Invite someone in with a single link (or a one-time invite code) and you both see the same budget update in real time. You control exactly what an invited member is allowed to add or edit, and you can revoke access at any time.
What happens to something DuitBox added automatically if it's wrong?
You can edit or delete anything at any time, whether it was entered manually or automatically. Automatic entries stay clearly marked so you can tell at a glance which ones came from a notification versus something you typed yourself.
Does DuitBox work on iPhone?
The web app at app.duitbox.app works in Safari on iPhone for manual entry, budgets, shared budgets, commitments, and moneyboxes — everything except automatic notification-based tracking, which currently requires Android's notification access, unavailable to iOS apps.
Is my data private?
Yes — see the full Privacy Policy for exactly what's collected and how it's used. In short: your data is yours, DuitBox doesn't sell it, and Guest Mode keeps everything on-device by default.
